About Us

What is the history of DEAN & DELUCA?

DEAN & DELUCA was founded in 1977 by Joel Dean and Giorgio DeLuca as an emporium of fine food, kitchenware and wine. From day one, our culinary curators sought to excite American palates with the exceptional, the artisanal and the hard-to-find from around the world.

The original store is located in downtown New York City’s SoHo ("South of Houston") district at Broadway and Prince Street. Over the years, we’ve opened other retail locations in St. Helena, California (the Napa Valley wine country); Kansas City; Charlotte, North Carolina and in Washington, D.C. We also operate six cafés and have new stores set to open in Newport Beach, Dubai and Kuwait.

Our catalog is distributed throughout the United States and our products have been offered on the Internet since 1996
