This Red wine in my glass is made by a vintner who learned and worked with some great Napa Valley wineries before starting his own venture that interestingly enough, has nothing to do with the king of grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon. Instead, since the winery’s 2007 debut vintage, Pinot Noir is the winery’s only star.
Below are the hints- the first one of you to guess the winery name will win a few bottles to enjoy on your own! GOOD LUCK and happy Friday! - Kerrin Laz, Wine Director
Hint 1 – The Red wine in my glass is a Pinot Noir.
Hint 2 – What I like most about this Pinot is its depth and clarity in texture, flavor and style. His forte is letting the grapes shine with as little manipulation as possible. The wine in my glass is proof that he successfully does exactly that.
Hint 3 – This single vineyard Pinot is sourced from one of the cooler climate vineyards within Anderson Valley. In the glass, that means a Pinot Noir with cool, red fruit notes and a vibrant natural acidity.
Hint 4 – If you want to venture off and try some other wines that he makes, he has another label that represents great-drinking offerings at very reasonable prices for the quality. His Tempranillo in fact, is one of my favorites.
Hint 5 – I think this wine represents his two passions – his love for the Pinot grape in its purest form and his love for skiing, which is cleverly wrapped around each bottle.
