Margerum M5 Rhone-Style Red 2007

Doug Margerum made an unexpected but welcome stop to my wine office last week to taste me on his entire line-up of Syrahs, red blends and Pinot Gris from his Santa Barbara County winery. What stood out the most was his Rhone-style blend, M5. Tasting like an approachable Chateauneuf, this Syrah blend contains 5 Rhone varietals- Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Cinsault & Carignan. This extremely versatile wine is as good as it gets when thinking of what wine should go with your next meal.
