Larkin Port Dessert Wine 2008 500ml

  • Quantity

This is the first time vintner Sean Larkin has produced a dessert wine and after tasting it a few weeks ago, this should become a regular addition to his repertoire. The 2008 is a blend of Portuguese grape varietals Touriga, Tinta Cao and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) grown in California's Sierra Foothills and was co-fermented in small tanks. They hand punched the grapes down three times per day and fermented until the desired sugar remained. To fortify the wine, they added one-year aged brandy spirits. This 2008 reveals silky notes of dark berries with a little clove and subtle spice. 73 cases were produced. - Kerrin Laz, Wine Director
