In 1992 and after decades of developing and maintaining some of the best vineyards in Napa Valley, Jim Barbour decided it was time to make his own wine. He chose a vineyard just south of St. Helena to cultivate his grapes and produced his first vintage in 1995. In his 30+ year career, Jim has planted or maintained such vineyards as Hundred Acre, Grace Family, Blankiet, Pillar Rock, Revana, D.R. Stephens, Barnett, Pride, and Cain, among others.
Celia Welch, winemaker for Barbour Vineyards, is one of North America's most highly regarded winemakers and has earned a reputation for crafting distinctive wines that express the unique qualities and characteristics of each vineyard. From a mere 50 cases produced with its inaugural release in 1995, Barbour Wines has steadily grown to reach its current production of 400 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon. And with the release of the 2007 vintage, Jim, Fiona, and Celia continue their tradition of creating fine wines.
