The third crop is the charm. We've been saying it now for a few years emphasizing the growing pains associated with a young vineyard. The first two years can be kind of a mixed bag with both wines being solid but ever changing in barrel and bottle. With this third year, the 2008, we saw good stability of color and flavor and a wine that got steadily better as it aged. Coming from a vintage that still unjustly sits in the afterglow of 2007, the 2008 Casa Piena will surprise a lot of people both as a wine that surpasses anything we've ever done before and as the beginning of a high-quality trajectory for this young estate vineyard.

Casa Piena embodies an intimate relationship between our family and a remarkable piece of land, located in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. Our select estate vineyard is meticulously cared for with a passionate commitment to growing Cabernet Sauvignon that exhibits profound depth and character. We are blessed to have exceptional fruit that is the ideal reflection of the unique terroir of the Policy Vineyard site, allowing our team to handcraft wines of restrained power, great integrity and supreme elegance.
Casa Piena is an Italian term which means “Full House.” It reflects the Policy children who are 3 boys and 2 girls (three of a kind and a pair). They now have 7 grandchildren and that certainly makes for a Full House.
