At the end of Pickett Road (home to Araujo and Hundred Acre's Few and Far Between Vineyard), off of Silverado Trail in the Calistoga Palisades is the most improved vineyard that Celia Welch works with to make Cab and SB. The first few vintages weren't my favorite, go-to Cabs but I think that was because the vines were young and the fruit was coming in a little under-ripe. The '07 was the first vintage that I really enjoyed and highlighted in private tastings and the '08 is even better. Deep red fruit, full layers and medium tannin fill the glass. With good structure and a long, persistent finish, this is a memorable vintage and Cab for Kelly Fleming. - Kerrin Laz, Wine Director

Kelly Fleming Wines

Founded in 1998, Kelly Fleming Wines is a truly artisanal winery producing small quantities of estate Cabernet Sauvignon and a Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc from its Provencal-inspired stone winery tucked into picturesque Simmons Canyon in Calistoga. The estate vineyards are farmed organically and are complemented by orchards and edible gardens. The winery building opens into caves where the petrified lava flow from Mt. St. Helena was intentionally left untreated to show off the beauty of the striations. Winemaker Celia Welch collaborates with vineyard manager Jeff Roberts and organic viticultural consultant Amigo Bob Cantisano along with Kelly Fleming, Colleen Fleming and Robert Fleming.
