Opus One Red 2007 1.5L

#OPU07RE4 | 2mL

This is one brand that never seems to get old or left behind as new labels come to the wine scene. The '07 offering is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 4% Merlot , 1% Cab Franc and 1% Malbec. The '07 vintage for Opus One, like many Napa Valley wineries, was very small in production because of the delayed ripening which resulted in small berries. - Kerrin Laz, Wine Director

A collaboration between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, Opus One arose, like any great work, out of passion. Our goal is to create a wine of ultimate quality that reflects the traditions and innovations of both founders. French in style but Californian in execution, Opus One is produced with uncompromised attention to detail from the manner in which our vineyard is planted and maintained, to the quality of the cork that seals the bottle. Beginning with the first harvest in 1979, every vintage of Opus One has expressed the vision and passionate spirit of its founders. While the varietal percentage of each vintage is different, Opus One is most often a blend of five grape varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Tasting Notes: 2008 Vintage; Extreme weather conditions in 2008-from an unseasonably cold April to an extended heat spell in September-led to Opus One's smallest per-acre yield in thirty-two vintages. Aromas of rose petals, cassis and black cherry in the 2008 combine with notes of marzipan and sandalwood. A satin texture enrobes the wine's smooth, round tannins, its bright acidity supporting a juicy and elegant mouthfeel. This precocious and remarkable wine offers a long finish, with traces of clove and dark chocolate. Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon 86%, Petit Verdot 8%, Merlot 4%, Cabernet Franc 1%, and and Malbec 1%; Barrel Aging:17 Months in New French Oak.
