Switchback Ridge Petite Sirah 2009

This is my favorite Petite Sirah coming out of California. Always smaller in production than the Merlot and Cab, this '09 showcases its characteristic penetrating "berry pie fruit" but doesn't overwhelm you with too much tannin. Switchback Ridge's vineyard located off of Silverado Trail in Calistoga is devoted to Cabernet, Merlot and Petite Sirah. And it's here where winemaker Bob Foley not only makes concentrated, well-made Petite Sirah but also sources some grapes for his own Robert Foley Petite.
