Paul Mathew TNT Vineyard Pinot Noir 2008
#PAU08TN3 | 750mL
Committed to low input winemaking, winemaker and vintner Mat Gustafson uses indigenous yeast for all of the Pinots produced. This '08 TNT Vineyard is a 2-acre planted vineyard in Russian River Valley and faces south on a slight slope in the Green Valley sub-region. Classic in RRV composition, this '08 reveals the briary red fruit with a little spice and good structure. - Kerrin Laz, Wine Director
Vintner's Perspective
Vineyards - The TNT 2 acre vineyard was planted in 1999 and 2000 with clones 114, 115, 667 and 777 on Riparia Gloire rootstock with Goldridge soil. This vineyard is on a south-facing slight slope in between the towns of Sebastopol & Occidental in the Green Valley sub region of Russian River. Winemaking - Grapes were harvested on Sept. 5th and Sept. 11th. Grapes were cooled in cold storage over night and destemmed the next day. The cold soak lasted eight days when the native yeast fermentation started and was complete ten days later. The wine finished malolactic fermentation on Dec., 29th was lightly sulphured and racked just before bottling. The wine was aged in oak for ten months and bottled unfiltered. Winemaker's Notes - This wine has a solid acid structure alongside the traditional red fruit characters. Pomegranate, strawberry, raspberry and cherry. Spice characters of cinnamon, clove are consistent with a solid structure from start to finish. This wine will age well.
