Skinner El Dorado Syrah 2007
#SKI07SY3 | 750mL
When winemaker Chris Pittenger stopped by our offices in thelate spring to share his new efforts at Skinner Vineyards, we were wowed by each new release. While not as well-known as the Napa County or Sonoma County, it's in El Dorado County where great Rhone varietals can be grown at an exceptional quality without the high expense. The '07 El Dorado Syrah is a perfect example. Gutsy from nose to finish, notes of brambly dark fruit dance with balanced notes of spice and subtle smoke. I think this is one of the best Syrahs at this price point you'll find in all of California. - Kerrin Laz, Wine Director
Vintner's Perspective
"Sourced from a hillside vineyard in Fair Play, this Syrah spent 21 months in French oak and is a blend of 877 and Noir clones. It shows a core of ripe blackberry, boysenberry, and blueberry aromas coupled with hints of white pepper, leather, and charred meat. The combination of integrated tannins and pronounced minerality results in a full-bodied wine with a lengthy finish."
