2012 begins, can you believe it? With this new year freshly minted, I think that we are thinking similar thoughts — one, where did 2011 go and two, are there any goals I should give myself in the New Year? Aside from financial and health goals, I always think about my two favorite pastimes — food & wine and travel. And so, with 2012 just beginning, I am thinking about new experiences that I can try regarding these two passions of mine. Below are my goals I hope to achieve in 2012:
1. Food — As much as I love dining out and trying new dishes that my favorite chefs bring to the table, I am going to try to experience more meals that I create. In other words, I am going to cook at least 4 dinners of my own. This might sound like a no-brainer for you but for me, living in the Napa Valley, in the job position that I’m in, this is not going to be an easy feat.
2. Wine — I am going to taste more wine this year. I am going to be more open to taking tasting appointments than I ever have been in years past. I am going to devote one half-day/week to taste wine and I am going to visit one winery I have never been to/week.
3. Travel — I will leave this country at least once this year to a different wine region. While I travel every year to a different country, I haven’t been devoting my travel time to a wine region but rather to a new city or unspoiled beach. This will be the year that changes.
Do you have wine and food hopes, goals and dreams this year? Is there someplace that you’ve never been and hope to visit this year? Post your plans on our Facebook wall or our Wine Wall, I’d love to hear what you’re thinking and what advice you can give on places to visit this year.
Wishing you a very happy New Year and hoping that your 2012 will be filled with great food, even better wine and a lot of laughter.
