Pahlmeyer Napa Chardonnay 2009

Pahlmeyer Napa Chardonnay 2009

#PAH09CH3 | 750mL

2009 will go down in the books as being a great vintage for Chardonnay. And Jayson Pahlmeyer with the help of winemaker Erin Green capitalized on this vintage to make a classic Proprietary Chard. Full-bodied as we'd expect a Pahlmeyer Chard to be, this '09 showcases concentrated stone fruit and honey that finishes on the palate with a long, hazelnutty finish. Most of the Chard grapes came from Jayson's Waters Ranch & Atlas Peak vineyard. - Kerrin Laz, Wine Director

The grapes were hand-sorted and gently whole-cluster pressed. After overnight settling, the juice was racked to barrels for 100% native wild yeast barrel fermentation followed by malo-lactic fermentation. The wine was aged in 90% new French oak barrels for eleven months on the lees, which were stirred weekly. It was not fined or sterile filtered. This complex Chardonnay hits you with layers of fresh mandarin orange zest, white peach, melon and candied lemon. Spicy nutmeg, vanilla pot de crme and toasty notes are balanced by bright acidity and an intense, mouthwatering, long finish. - Erin Green, Winemaker
